Science on Stage organizes...

Playful science

Playful science is an annual experiments festival organized by Science on Stage Belgium, alternatively in each three regions of the country. As this festival is of national vocation, it is performed whether in the two official languages of the country, or in English.
The purpose is to demonstrate simple experiments that are easy to make so that teachers are able to reproduce them in the classroom.

Playful science takes place as follows:

·             Several on-stage demonstrations, approximately 30 minutes each, of physical, chemical or biological experiments in front of all the attendees.
A brief summary in the alternative language is scheduled.

·             Experiment contests putting the attendees in a particular experimental situation in which they must foresee the results of the experiment.
The attendees are prompt to supply their answers on a blank sheet.
The ten best results will be rewarded.

·             An experiment fair of approximately 3 hours during lunch time. The attendees are free to visit the stands showing how to elaborate and make the most of experiments using simple material.
Drinks and sandwiches are supplied for free.

·             A final science show during approximately 45 minutes.

·             At the end of the day, a bag containing experimental material is offered to each attendee.

A €10.00 contribution to the costs is required to each attendee.

This day is recognized as an in-service training by the IFC (Institute for in-service training).

Science on Stage Europe

Science on Stage Europe organizes periodically a European-related festival, where teachers coming from all over Europe have the opportunity to share their ideas.
The festival lasts a couple of days. Part of the costs (accommodation and lunches) is funded by the organizing European committee. Travels are payable by Science on Stage Belgium.
Science on Stage Europe takes in charge a maximum number of attendees determined by the organizer.
Other attendees are allowed to come as exhibitors, but they have to take all the costs at their charge.
Everybody is also allowed to attend the event as visitor if they pay themselves.
